Founded on October 22, 1575, near thermal springs that gave it its name — "hot waters" — Aguascalientes is a large city in north-central Mexico whose historic centre holds a dense concentration of churches and a walkable café and restaurant scene. The city is best known for the Feria Nacional de San Marcos, the largest fair in Mexico, and its historic centre forms part of the UNESCO-listed Camino Real de Tierra Adentro. It also hosted the Revolutionary Convention of 1914 during the Mexican Revolution.
