Akşehir

The legendary home of Nasreddin Hoca — the folkloric wise man whose satirical tales spread across the Islamic world — Akşehir is a highland town in Konya Province, sitting at the edge of a fertile plain on the north side of the Sultan Mountains. Historically known as Philomelium, it lies in Turkey's Lakes District, at a considerable elevation above sea level.
