Bam

Bam's ancient citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site with roughly two thousand years of history, is the central draw of this city in Kerman province, southeastern Iran. The citadel anchors a walkable centre with cafés and restaurants, and the city is also known for its dates, citrus, and henna. The 2003 earthquake left a deep mark on the city's modern history.
