Barguna
Bangladesh
A district headquarters town in southern Bangladesh, Barguna sits on the banks of the Khakdon river and is known across the country for its hilsa fish — the district has been officially designated a hilsa zone. The wider region also produces timber, honey, and beeswax. Road and river routes are the main ways in and out, with the Sundarbans, a UNESCO World Heritage site, accessible in the broader region.
