Bishnupur
Bankura · India
Bishnupur, a town in West Bengal's Bankura district, is known for its terracotta temples built by the Malla rulers between 1600 and 1800 CE, dedicated to Radha and Krishna, and placed on UNESCO's World Heritage Tentative List in 1997. The town is also associated with Baluchari sarees, a traditional silk weaving tradition. The temple complex is walkable, and the concentration of surviving Malla-era religious architecture makes Bishnupur one of the more distinctive heritage towns in West Bengal.
