Borove

This mountain village in Albania's Korçë County, part of the Kolonjë municipality, sits close to water and highland terrain. It carries a sombre place in history: during World War II, German forces carried out the Massacre of Borovë against the civilian population in reprisal for a local resistance attack on a convoy bound for Greece.
