Cabourg
Calvados · France
Marcel Proust's favoured retreat on the Normandy coast, Cabourg is a Belle Époque seaside town on the Côte Fleurie where the river Dives meets the English Channel. The Grand Hôtel that Proust frequented still anchors a seafront lined with cafés and restaurants, and the town has hosted a film festival since 1983. Summer brings a large influx of visitors drawn to the beach and the well-preserved early-20th-century architecture along the waterfront.
