Castril
Granada · Spain
A little Andalusian village in Granada province set against a steep rocky outcrop, Castril borders the Sierra de Castril natural park, through which the Castril river and the Portillo reservoir run. The surrounding sierra is known for dramatic relief, abundant water sources, caves, and underground galleries — including the Cueva del Muerto, with its stalactites and stalagmites, and the Cueva de Don Fernando, the deepest cave in the province of Granada. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
