Char Fasson
Bangladesh
Char Fasson, in the southern part of Bangladesh's Bhola District, is home to the Char Kukri-Mukri Wildlife Sanctuary — an island that emerged from the estuary of the Meghna and Tetulia rivers a few centuries ago and now shelters deer, migratory birds, red crabs, wild buffalo, and monkeys. The upazila also has Tarua beach and Jacob Tower, described as the largest watchtower in the subcontinent. The wider area is an agricultural and fishing region where rice, lentils, potatoes, betel nut, and coconut are cultivated.
