Constancia
Portugal
A small riverside village in Portugal's Santarém District where the Tagus meets the Zêzere, Constância has a café and restaurant scene that punches above its size, with scenic viewpoints in the surrounding countryside. The national poet Luís de Camões lived here in exile between 1548 and 1550, and in 1809 the English army assembled in the town before marching to Wellington's victory at the Battle of Talavera. The wider region holds several UNESCO World Heritage sites.
