This little Transylvanian town in Sibiu County, Dumbrăveni sits on the banks of the Târnava Mare River in central Romania. Known historically as Ibașfalău and, in German, as Elisabethstadt, it carries a layered Saxon, Hungarian, and Romanian heritage. The surrounding region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites, and the town administers two villages, Ernea and Șaroș pe Târnave.
