Small West Virginia city on the Tygart Valley River, Elkins hosts the Mountain State Forest Festival each October and is home to Davis and Elkins College. Named for co-founder and U.S. Senator Stephen B. Elkins, the town was incorporated in 1890 and sits close to mountain terrain, with a central core of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches.
