Futaleufu

A compact frontier town in Chilean Patagonia built around the Futaleufú River, widely regarded as one of the world's premier whitewater rafting rivers. The town draws visitors for rafting, kayaking, fly fishing, mountain biking, trekking, and canyoning, with scenic viewpoints across the surrounding river valleys. Sitting near the Argentine border, it is most easily reached via airports in Esquel or Bariloche. The name Futaleufú comes from a Mapudungun word meaning "big river."
