This county in Gyeonggi Province known across South Korea for its pine nuts and Nami Island, Gapyeong draws weekend visitors from Seoul into mountainous terrain suited to hiking and mountain biking. Every October, Jara Island hosts an International Jazz Festival. The county was also the site of the Battle of Kapyong, a significant engagement of the Korean War.
