Geeveston

This pocket-sized village on the Huon River in southern Tasmania, Geeveston serves as the gateway to Hartz Mountains National Park and sits within reach of UNESCO World Heritage wilderness in the wider region. The surrounding area has long supported apple and fruit growing alongside a timber industry dating to the late 19th century. The town takes its name from English settler William Geeves, who received a land grant here in the 19th century.
