Giarre

A walkable Sicilian town on the Ionian coast with a centre full of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches, Giarre sits midway between Catania and Taormina with Etna visible inland. It forms a continuous urban area with the neighbouring town of Riposto — briefly merged with it under the Fascist-era name Giarre-Riposto, then Ionia — and the wider conurbation extends from the seafront to the volcano's lower slopes.
