Gorongosa
Mozambique
Gorongosa National Park, one of Mozambique's main safari destinations and the subject of a 2010 National Geographic film, sits just east of this Sofala Province town on the EN1 highway. The park occupies the southern end of the East African Great Rift Valley, its rivers fed by nearby Mount Gorongosa to the north. The town serves as the administrative seat of Gorongosa District and the practical base for visiting the park.
