Hongseong
South Korea
This coastal county in South Chungcheong Province serves as the provincial capital and is known for local seafood specialities including fermented shrimp paste, large prawns, and cockles landed at Namdang Harbour. Mountains lie close by, and the wider region holds UNESCO World Heritage sites. Originally called Hongju, the county seat shifted here when provincial government offices relocated from Daejeon to the Naepocheon new town area in 2012.
