Regional city on the Wimmera River in western Victoria, Horsham is the main centre of the Wimmera wheat and wool country, with a compact walkable core of cafés and restaurants along the river. Named after an English town by early settler James Monckton Darlot, it grew through the late 19th and early 20th centuries as an agricultural hub and was declared a city in 1949. The Grampians ranges are visible from town, and the riverfront draws visitors year-round.
