Inhambane
Mozambique
Historic city on a bay peninsula in southern Mozambique, Inhambane carries a nickname — "Land of Good People" — said to have been given by Vasco da Gama when he passed through in 1498. Its colonial architecture and waterfront setting make it a base for the Indian Ocean beach resorts around Tofo, a short drive east. The sister city of Maxixe sits across the bay.
