Iwanuma

This pocket-sized city on the Pacific coast of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, where the Abukuma River meets the sea, Iwanuma sits at the historic convergence of two ancient roads, the Tōkaidō and the Rikuzen-Hama Kaidō. Close to mountains and with a food-and-drink scene concentrated in a walkable centre, it received city status in 1971.
