Kachura

Pakistan

Kachura Lake, known in Balti as Froq Tsho and set high in the Skardu district of Baltistan in northern Pakistan, is a heart-shaped alpine lake surrounded by flower and fruit gardens. The Shangrila Resort, established in 1983 as Skardu's first resort, sits on its shores and takes its name from James Hilton's 1933 novel Lost Horizon; its restaurant is built into the fuselage of a repurposed aircraft. The lake is most accessible between March and November, with daily flights from Islamabad taking around 40 minutes.
