Kashan

Iran

One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Kashan sits at the edge of Iran's central deserts in Isfahan province, where a 7,000-year-old ziggurat still stands at the Sialk Hillocks on the city's outskirts. A common stop for tourists after Isfahan and Shiraz, it offers a concentration of historical sites alongside the greenery of a desert oasis. The wider region holds several UNESCO World Heritage sites.
