Keremeos
Okanagan-Similkameen G · Canada
Keremeos, a tiny village in British Columbia's Similkameen region, calls itself the fruit stand capital of Canada — roadside stands selling soft fruits, cherries, peaches, apples, and vegetables are a defining feature of the local economy, grown in the valley's dry, warm climate. Vineyards and wineries have been expanding alongside the orchards. The Similkameen River runs past the village, whose name derives from an Okanagan-language word meaning "creek which cuts its way through the flats."
