Kropa
Slovenia
Iron-working in Kropa stretches back to the Celtic era, and the village in Slovenia's Upper Carniola region built its identity around forging — nails, decorative metalwork, and the ornate street lamps still visible throughout the settlement today. The Blacksmith Museum, housed in a 17th-century building, traces that history, while hiking trails from the village lead up onto the Jelovica plateau toward the Bela peč viewpoint. The torrent Kroparica, whose name shares a root with the Slovenian word for boiling water, runs through the centre.
