La Boca
Argentina
This waterfront neighborhood in Buenos Aires where tango took early root and Italian Ligurian immigrants shaped a working-class culture now expressed in the brightly painted buildings that line its streets. La Boca is also home to Boca Juniors and their stadium La Bombonera, one of the two largest sports clubs in Argentina. The neighborhood sits at the mouth of the Matanza River where it meets the Río de la Plata, at the southeastern edge of the city.
