La Junta
Chile
This compact village in Chilean Patagonia where the Rosselot and Palena rivers meet, La Junta sits along the Carretera Austral with mountain scenery in the surrounds and a modest but real selection of cafés and restaurants for a settlement of its size. Founded in 1963, it serves as the first stop into the northern reaches of the Aysén Region, with an economy built around tourism, livestock, and local commerce.
