Macará
Ecuador
A small Ecuadorian border town on the Macará River, with a café and restaurant scene in its compact centre and mountain terrain close by. Trade with Peru has shaped the town since the mid-20th century, when the construction of an international bridge and a peace agreement with Peru accelerated its growth. Rice farming remains a local staple, and the town serves as one of the main commercial and administrative centres of Loja province.
