Masuleh
Iran
A mountain village in Iran's Alborz range, Masuleh sits high above the southern Caspian coast in Gilan province, known for its dramatic stepped layout — where rooftops of lower houses serve as the pathways of those above. The village's elevation gives it strong scenic views, and its Talysh community has roots stretching back through the Ilkhanid period, when the region developed a notable tradition of iron production using multi-stage sponge-iron furnaces.
