Mudurnu

Bolu · Türkiye

Mudurnu, a modest town in Turkey's Bolu Province, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014 under the name Mudurnu Tarihi Ahi Kenti, recognised for an Ottoman urban fabric that has remained largely intact. The town holds a large concentration of listed historic structures — traditional timber houses, religious buildings, fountains, and a bathhouse — and has been designated an Urban Conservation Area. The mansions Armutçular Konağı and Keyvanlar Konağı are considered among the finest examples of Turkish civil architecture, and some now offer rooms and local home cooking. Mudurnu is also a production centre for pişmaniye, a spun-sugar confection known locally as Saray Helvası, and needle-lace made by local women remains a traditional craft. Nearby lakes and thermal springs at Babas and Sarot lie within easy reach.
