The Nazca Lines — vast geometric figures and giant drawings etched into the desert sand, now a UNESCO World Heritage site — make this town on Peru's southern coast one of the country's most visited destinations. The lines were created by the Nazca culture, which flourished here between 100 BC and AD 800 and also built Cahuachi, a ceremonial city, along with an underground aqueduct system known as puquios that still functions today.
