A town in northeastern Türkiye's Erzurum province, Oltu sits in the valley of the Oltu River at the crossroads of the Eastern Anatolia and Eastern Black Sea regions. It is known for cağ kebabı and Oltu stone, a type of jet used in local crafts. The town's history stretches back to the 10th century BC, with rule passing through Urartians, Romans, Byzantines, Georgians, and Ottomans among many others.
