Compact port town on the Pelješac peninsula in Dalmatia, Orebić sits directly across a narrow strait from the island of Korčula, with frequent ferry crossings between the two. The town has a real café and restaurant scene for its size, several historic churches including the Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of Angels, and vineyards in the surrounding area. A maritime museum holds the 1707 imperial writ granting nobility to the Orebić family, whose sea captains shaped the town's history. Hiking paths lead up Mount Saint Elijah behind the town, with views across to Korčula and the Adriatic.
