Plomin
Croatia
A little fortified hilltop settlement on the southeastern Istrian coast, Plomin rises above the Plomin Bay on a hill that drops almost vertically to the water below. Inhabited since Roman times, the village retains traces of ancient foundations beneath its medieval churches and chapels, and a viewpoint overlooking the Kvarner Gulf and the islands of Cres and Lošinj. The Plomin Inscription, a document of early Croatian culture, also originates here.
