Puente Genil
Córdoba · Spain
This town in Andalusia's Córdoba province with a concentration of historic churches in its centre, Puente Genil sits on the Genil river at the geographic heart of Andalusia. Formed in 1834 from the merger of two older settlements, it grew rapidly in the late 19th century — in 1889 it became the second municipality in Spain, after Barcelona, to install public electric street lighting.
