Rayong
Thailand
A coastal city on Thailand's Eastern Gulf, Rayong sits on the Gulf of Thailand with a walkable centre full of cafés and restaurants. The main industry is fishing, and the city is Thailand's leading producer of fish sauce. Modest beaches in the surrounding province offer quieter alternatives to busier resort towns, while mountains lie within reach inland. Named an Asia-Pacific City of the Future by the Financial Times in 2017, Rayong also hosts major chemical and automotive manufacturing, including a Ford assembly plant opened in 2012.
