Rionegro
Colombia
Known as the "Cradle of Democracy," Rionegro is a city in Colombia's Eastern Antioquia subregion where the 1863 Colombian constitution was drafted, at the historic Casa de la Convención. The city takes its name from the Río Negro, whose tree-shadowed waters run dark through the centre. Declared a national monument in 1963, Rionegro sits on the San Nicolás valley plateau and serves as the location of Medellín's international airport, José María Córdova, a short drive from the departmental capital via the Oriente tunnel.
