Saint-Jacques
Canada
Founded in 1774 by Acadian families who escaped forced expulsion by boat, Saint-Jacques is a rural municipality in Quebec's Lanaudière region and one of four communities that make up the area known as New Acadia. Its coat of arms carries the colours of the Acadian flag, a visible link to that founding history. The municipality sits within the Montcalm Regional County Municipality, with mountain views in the surrounding landscape.
