Sestroretsk
Russia
This coastal resort town on the Gulf of Finland, Sestroretsk sits where the Sestra River and Sestroretsk Lake meet the Baltic shore, a short train ride northwest of St. Petersburg. Known as a balneological resort with its own mineral water and therapeutic muds, it draws on a mild maritime climate and waterfront setting. Several historic districts — among them Razliv, Kurort, and Duny — spread across the southern Karelian Isthmus, connected by rail directly to St. Petersburg's Finland Station.
