The county seat of Roane County, West Virginia, Spencer sits alongside Charles Fork Lake in mountain terrain and hosts the annual West Virginia Black Walnut Festival. Chartered in 1858 and named after Virginia jurist Spencer Roane, the tiny city also counts the McIntosh Mansion and the Robey Theatre among its points of interest.
