Susanville

Susanville, the county seat of Lassen County in northeastern California, sits along the Susan River at high elevation in the Sierra Nevada foothills, with mountains close by. A former logging and mining town, it has a compact centre with cafés, restaurants, and historic churches. The town is also home to the High Desert State Prison, which opened in 1995, and two other nearby correctional facilities that together employ a large share of the local workforce.
