Targu Neamt

Târgu Neamț, a town in Neamț County in Western Moldavia, is the base for visiting around 20 Orthodox monasteries in the surrounding area, including Văratec, Agapia, and Secu. The town itself is associated with the childhood of the storyteller Ion Creangă, whose early years were spent in the village of Humulești, now part of the town, and with the poet Veronica Micle. Nearby, the Neamț Fortress, built by Petru I Mușat, sits above the River Neamț, with mountains close by.
