Telč's historic centre, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, is considered the best-preserved Renaissance town in Bohemia and Moravia, its 16th-century main square kept intact by a surrounding system of fishponds that prevented outward expansion. The town sits in the hilly Křižanov Highlands of the Vysočina Region, with a Renaissance castle designated as a national cultural monument among its landmarks. Despite its little size, it supports a real café and restaurant scene.
