Tequila
Tequila · Mexico
Tequila, a town in Jalisco roughly an hour from Guadalajara, is the birthplace of the spirit that carries its name — distilled from the blue agave plant native to this region after Spanish colonizers adapted an older fermented indigenous drink. The town and surrounding agave landscape together form a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designated a Pueblo Mágico in 2003, the town centre is marked by distillery chimneys, agave fields, and the tower of its main church, with Tequila Mountain rising nearby.
