Tirschenreuth
Germany
This pocket-sized Bavarian town near the Czech border, first documented in 1134, Tirschenreuth sits among a landscape of fish ponds — the Tirschenreuther Teichpfanne — that once served the nearby Waldsassen monastery. The town later became known for cloth-making before porcelain manufacturing took over in the late 19th century. Its compact centre has cafés, restaurants, and several historic churches, with mountain country and scenic viewpoints close at hand.
