Vanse
Agder · Norway
Vanse, a village near the southwestern tip of Norway's Agder coast, is home to a medieval stone church built in 1037 — one of the older surviving churches in the region. Beside it stands a monument to those lost in the Gunboat War of 1807–1814, ringed by modest cannons and a chain of stones, and the site of an annual Constitution Day ceremony each May 17. The village served as the administrative centre of the former Lista municipality from 1838 to 1965.
