Wawona

This little community situated entirely within Yosemite National Park, Wawona sits alongside the South Fork of the Merced River with mountain scenery in every direction. Known historically as Clark's Station and Big Tree Station before the park was established, it draws a far larger seasonal population than its year-round hamlet size suggests, thanks to a concentration of rental cabins. The surrounding park landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers scenic viewpoints throughout the area.
