Amphawa
Samut Songkhram · Thailand
A canal-side town in Samut Songkhram province at the northwestern edge of the Bay of Bangkok, Amphawa has a walkable waterfront centre lined with cafés and restaurants. Settlement here grew significantly after the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, when people moved to the area for its fertile land. The name Amphawa reflects the mango orchards that once densely covered the district.
