Ardales
Málaga · Spain
This small Andalusian village in the mountains of Málaga province, Ardales sits beside the Guadalhorce reservoirs and offers striking views across the surrounding sierra. The Caminito del Rey trail runs nearby, and the Cave of Ardales holds pigments that researchers have attributed — controversially — to Neanderthals some 64,800 years ago. Above the village stand the ruins of Ardales Castle and, at the hilltop, the Ermita del Calvario hermitage.
