Bevagna

A flat Umbrian town in the Topino river plain — unusual among the hill towns of the region — Bevagna is listed among Italy's most beautiful borghi and carries visible traces of the Roman settlement it was built on top of, with columns and friezes scattered through the centre. The town has a real café and restaurant scene for its size, sits in Umbria's wine country, and was historically known for producing fine linen cloth called "bevagne."
